This page is part of my Twitter Thread Index. Every Sunday, I post a thread on Twitter about a figure from Jewish history and why their work matters. The threads are collected in browsable form in the index.
Rabbenu Tam (c. 1100–1171) was Rashi’s grandson, brother of Rashbam and Rivam, and the initiator of the Tosafistic method of Talmud study, as well as a poet, grammarian, and halachic authority.
